Verdict

SAINT WINIFRED (9) hasn't finished further back than fourth in five runs this campaign, most of them in races that had a touch more depth than this. Has experience at this track, including a couple of placings, and the gun draw (five) is just the icing on the cake. BILLY THE BRUTE (2) has always shaped as this trip would be right up his alley and the fitness gained from two runs back should have him in the firing line. SMARTSET (4) has been up for a while but has been around the mark in recent starts and is a must for exotics. DEELER (1) is in the same boat but has to overcome the outside gate. RIBBLE VALLEY (8) drops in trip but should be able to settle close from gate three.
